The day dawned somewhat miserably as clouds gathered over Chelsea but by lunchtime the skies had cleared and we met for an early lunch in the café. The meal was excellent and then our two tour guides, Jane and Fanny gave each group a fascinating tour of the gardens.
We were a gathering of 17 and we were able to catch up on news and slot right back into our old friendships as if we had not been physically separated for nigh on 18 months.
We had a great afternoon learning fun facts about deadly plants and one of our number was unnaturally interested in the poisoning plants! (No names, what goes on tour, stays on tour). I was delighted to learn that I am not the only one fighting a battle with slugs in the vegetable garden - Chelsea Physic Garden are organic except for the control of the box hedge caterpillar.
